I. Is a diplomatic breakthrough imminent on Iran's nuclear program?
Iran has suddenly announced that she has found "common ground" with recent proposals from Western powers regarding her controversial nuclear power program. This statement, plus recent statements from President Bush and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, holds out the possibility that the Iranian nuclear crisis might come to an end.
Let us review the statement from Iran.
NEWS BRIEF: "Iran warms to freeze-for-freeze plan", By Gareth Porter, Asia Times, July 4, 2008
"WASHINGTON - A senior Iranian official reportedly told members of the Iranian parliament on Monday that Iran had agreed to freeze its enrichment program for six weeks and begin negotiations with the 'Iran Six' group of states as early as next week ... Remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki and a top adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday also seemed to indicate that decision to accept a 'freeze-for-freeze' proposal from the 'Iran Six' to begin at least preliminary negotiations."
What on earth is the "Iran Six"?
"The 'Iran Six' consists of the permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia - and Germany."
We should point out at this point that Russia and China have been the most vociferous in their defense of Iran's nuclear power plant program, insisting that this program is entirely peaceful as it is designed only to produce electricity. Consistent with this viewpoint, Cutting Edge has long taught that Iran had already achieved a nuclear warhead capability by early 2002 (Read NEWS1660, "Mushroom Clouds In The Middle East")
Now, let us return to this subject of Iran suddenly expressing interest in a diplomatic solution to her nuclear confrontation with the West.
"The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Agency, Gholam-Reza Aghazadeh, told members of the Majlis (parliament) energy committee on Monday that Iran had agreed to start the talks ... It said 'informed sources' had specified that Iran had accepted a six-week freeze on any expansion of enrichment as a condition on such negotiations, as proposed by European Union foreign affairs chief Javier Solana ... ISNA reported in a brief item on Monday that an Iranian parliamentary energy committee member ... had declared that Iran 'has agreed to start talks with the 5+1 [Iran Six] countries group'. It added that the talks 'will begin next week'." (Ibid.)
If these talks begin the week after the Fourth of July weekend, and if the plan of the Global Elite is to bring this crisis to a point of a peaceful solution, then these two abrupt warnings from President Bush and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff make sense.
NEWS BRIEF: "Top Military chief warns against striking Iran", AFP News, July 3, 2008
"WASHINGTON (AFP) — Opening up a third front would pose a challenge for the US military already deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, a top US military chief said Wednesday amid concerns Israel may attack Iran. 'From the US military perspective, opening up a third front right now would be extremely stressful on us', the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen told a press conference."
These types of sentiments are to be expected from a top military official like Admiral Mullen. Flag officers are trained to think in practical military terms and this is a military assessment. If either America or Israel were to attack Iran, American forces currently bogged down and undermanned in both Iraq and Afghanistan would suddenly have to deal with a powerful enemy to the east of Iraq and to the west of Afghanistan. Literally, American commanders would abruptly have to deal with a "Third Front", a third enemy which is stronger than the Iraqi Insurgency and the Taliban added together.
This assessment from the Admiral is a stark admission that American forces are stretched too thin; and, that means that the Admiral does not believe either of these two wars are doing well at this point! If they were going well, the Admiral would not worry too much about opening a third front.
President Bush also weighed in on this subject, reaching the same conclusion as his Joint Chiefs.
NEWS BRIEF: "Don't bomb Iran, Bush warns Israel", New York Daily News, July 2, 2008
"WASHINGTON - President Bush and the top U.S. military commander warned Israel Wednesday against bombing Iran, suggesting the U.S. doesn't want to get involved in a third war."
Notice that the President is sounding the same theme as Admiral Mullen. This fact is encouraging,. since it means that President Bush is "on the same page" as the Joint Chiefs of Staff, making it extremely unlikely that he will do anything irrationally. In fact, we have said all along that none of the major players on the world scene do anything on his own, but is, instead, following a script.
"Bush said, 'I have made it clear to all parties [including Israel] that the first option is diplomacy', in getting Iran to stop enriching uranium that could be used for a nuclear weapon."
This statement is the first I have heard where President Bush has specifically warned Israel not to attack Iran. But, shouldn't we expect Bush to urge Israel not to attack? After all, the President personally "took the military option off the table" in December, 2007 because he admitted that American intelligence had been wrong in its dire assessment of the Iranian nuclear program (Read NEWS2256 for full details)
Taken in context with the sudden Iranian interest in peacefully solving their dispute with the West, these two blunt statements from the top officials of the Bush Administration can be seen as enhancing negotiations by proving to the Iranian leadership that the United States is also very interested in solving the matter without conflict. On the other hand, had the President and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs issued strong bellicose statements threatening war on the eve of these negotiations, that would be taken as a sign that Washington had no interest in achieving peace; Iranian leaders would notice the words of war and could very well have cancelled their negotiations with the "Iran Six".
Now, let us quickly talk about specific possible ramifications of a sudden diplomatic solution to this nonsensical crises.
First, oil prices should drop quickly and severely. OPEC, Saudi, and Iranian oil officials have all stated within the past several weeks that the world is glutted with an oversupply of crude oil. In fact, crude oil is being pumped that no one is buying! To make matters worse, crude oil storage facilities in the Middle East are nearly filled to capacity. The world has more than enough oil.
All the statements from all Western leaders that the solution to high oil prices is to pump more crude are blatant lies!
Therefore, traditional market forces are working together to force a sharp downward correction in price. Many financial experts, looking only at their balance sheets, are stating their belief that crude oil should dramatically drop to the $90-$75 range. These experts are flummoxed by the persistently high oil prices because they are not aware of the hidden agenda of the Illuminati.
The only method by which global oil speculators can maintain these high oil prices is to stage a phony war tension with Iran, the only regional power who can shut down all oil traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. If this war tension is suddenly removed, I cannot see any combination of other factors which would prevent oil prices from dropping significantly. Certainly, the perceived threat of Nigerian militants does not carry the same weight as a war with Iran.
Conceivably, a massive hurricane coming out of the Gulf of Mexico could be sold to the people as creating enough of a threat to world oil supplies as a major shooting war with Iran. But, this seems doubtful, as the devastation from Katrina did not drive oil prices through the roof.
Second, President Bush could take all the credit for conducting a policy which suddenly produces a great "peace dividend" right before the beginning of the presidential Fall election! Political pundits could get a lot of mileage out of this peace dividend, intoning on and on and on that Senator McCain will be greatly strengthened. If this 'peace dividend' sweeps over Iraq, and produces a semblance of peace and normalcy, John McCain - the Bush clone -- could benefit greatly.
We can only wait to see how this works out.
II. Do not be deceived by the abrupt willingness of North Korea to destroy her main nuclear cooling tower, and by her willingness to hand over reams of documents to the Chinese next week.
The fact is, the North Koreans still have a major scripted nuclear war role to play in the coming World War III.

"North Korea destroyed the most visible symbol of its nuclear weapons program Friday, blasting the cooling tower at its main atomic reactor into a cloud of white and gray smoke as a sign of its commitment to stop making plutonium for atomic bombs ... The demolition of the 60-foot-tall cooling tower at the North's main reactor complex is a response to US concessions after the North delivered a declaration Thursday of its nuclear programs to be dismantled. Hours after the blast, North Korea's government praised Washington's moves to lift sanctions..."
This demolition of the cooling tower came one day after President Bush issued a declaration of "national emergency" because of the North Korean nuclear threat -- "Executive Order: Continuing Certain Restrictions with Respect to North Korea and North Korean Nationals".
Do not be too shaken by the fact that President Bush declared a state of "national emergency" over the North Korean nuclear threat. America has been under one "national emergency" or another for the past 30 years. This declaration was issued the day before North Korea destroyed her cooling tower, and will be spun as the main reason the Korean dictators decided to comply with Western demands.
The fact is that this North Korean agreement is so full of holes that it amounts to nothing more than "smoke and mirrors".
