authorities are releasing thousands of pedophiles after
serving less than a year.

sounds like to me. Two decades ago, I was studying New
Age authors on several subjects, including Gay, Lesbian,
Transvestite, Queer and a constant thread that ran through
my studies was the vast desire from the LGBT-Q people
to have the law changed so that they could legally have
sex with minors!
But, in today's expression,
preventable sex crimes against children are being faciliated
by this release of convicted pedophiles.
Releasing pedophiles from
prison also has the effect of encouraging pedophiles
to murder and rape with impunity since they now know
that they will not be punished by authorities.
In fact, many pedophiles
will come to the point of believing that the government
does not disapprove of this rape of minor children!
