I. Acting alone, President Obama has intervened to take the sting out of the planned Middle Class tax increases scheduled to take effect tomorrow, January 1, 2013!

Warren Buffet was right! Lawmakers and the President have some time in January to get a deal done. Listen to how President Obama acted as the savior of the Middle Class! Saturday Night Live could portray the President as walking on water on this 'Fiscal Cliff' issue.

NEWS BRIEF: "Income tax withholding likely to be delayed after Jan. 1 to give Congress more time to act", The Boston Globe, December 28, 2012

"President Obama’s Department of Treasury has bought the White House and Congress a political grace period: The Internal Revenue Service, a division of the Treasury, has effectively delayed the economic impact of the automatic income tax hikes, which could give negotiators breathing room to keep trying for a deal beyond next week."

"While income tax rate increases technically take effect immediately on Jan. 1, the IRS has not yet told employers to change the amount of income taxes they withhold from employee paychecks. As a result, most American workers are not expected to immediately suffer an increase in income taxes, even if political leaders fail to reach a deal. The reprieve could last days or even weeks and would help insulate the economy .... from Washington’s dysfunction."

Therefore, even though the Middle Class tax increase officially goes into effect tomorrow, January 1, President Obama has acted to delay the increase in payroll taxes which employers throughout this country would implement. This action removes the greatest single sting to the economy -- and to your take-home pay -- which the "Fiscal Cliff" will deliver.

Therefore, Warren Buffet was correct a couple of weeks ago when he stated that lawmakers and the White House did not have to solve this problem by January 1; they could take their time, into January, to solve this issue. As a close adviser to the President, Buffet undoubtedly knew that Obama was going to instruct the IRS to delay taking out the increased taxes from your paycheck.

II. What is the status right now of the negotiations between Democrat President Obama and the Republicans to solve the Fiscal Cliff issue?

NEWS BRIEF: "Fiscal Cliff: GOP Gives In On Social Security Cuts In Stalled Talks", December 31, 2012

"Tense "fiscal cliff" negotiations on Capitol Hill Sunday inched forward slightly as Republican senators agreed to take Social Security cuts off their list of immediate demands ... There were some glimmers of bipartisan agreement on what may or may not end up in a pared-down deal. Hutchison said lawmakers in both parties had essentially settled on extending the Bush income tax cuts below the $400,000 or $500,000 threshold. She also said the estate tax isn't 'the real hang-up' for most people."

Republican Senator Lindsay Graham of S.C. told the reporters at Fox News on Sunday that the President had won this issue.

NEWS BRIEF: "Lindsey Graham On Fiscal Cliff: 'Hats Off To The President. He Won.' ", Huffington Post, December 30, 2012

"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) used his "Fox News Sunday" appearance to congratulate President Barack Obama on his impending victory in the so-called fiscal cliff negotiations, predicting that tax rates will go up on people making more than $400,000 or $500,000 as a result of the coming Senate deal."

" 'Hats off to the president. He won', Graham said. 'What have we accomplished? Political victory for the president. Hats off to the president. He stood his ground. He's going to get tax rate increases, maybe not at [$]250[,000], but on upper-income Americans'."

President Obama and his Democrat Congressional allies have a powerful propaganda weapon at their disposal in this debate. While the Republicans can clamor all they want to about their opposition to raising taxes on anyone, including the very rich, the fact is that, if their opposition on this Fiscal Cliff issue results in nothing being done, these Republicans have just raised taxes on tens of millions of Middle Class Americans!

The Democrats could truthfully say that the Republicans care nothing about the Middle Class American taxpayer, because they are so sold out to the rich. I believe the reason Obama ordered the IRS to not issue the new tax withholding is so that he could have more time to hit the Republicans over the head with this issue. The longer these negotiations drag on, the more effective this propaganda campaign works its deadly magic.

If the Democrats can make this issue strongly enough, what is at stake here is HUGE. Tens of millions of American taxpayers could begin to view the Republicans in a very hostile light. They could conclude that the GOP really does not care about them. At that point, millions of lifelong Republicans just might conclude that they would never vote Republican again. Do you remember recent American history? After Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt was finished with his similar propaganda campaign against the Republicans in 1935 -- accusing their favorable policies toward the very rich for creating, and then prolonging, the Great Depression -- the Republican Party was a minority party for a generation! Republicans did not begin to recover for 20 years, under their most popular war hero, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The same massive party switchover could occur over this issue. And, if Obama ever informs the IRS to begin taking out the increased taxes, Middle Class Americans could turn on the GOP with a vengeance. The Democrats might gain a stranglehold on both the House of Representatives and the Senate. If the Democrats achieve this kind of numerical control over Congress, what might they do to some of the most cherished Conservative issues? Remember, new Democrats in Congress may have won the election over the supposed Republican lack of concern for the Middle Class, but they will vote on a host of other issues. What are some of the "other issues" on which they would be voting?

This new hostility toward Republicans could quickly filter down to State and Local politics.

* Gun Control and gun confiscation could suddenly become infinitely easier to pass.

* Gay Rights and Gay Marriage would be far easier to legalize if the Democrats achieved a significantly higher majority.

* Abortion on Demand could receive an even greater lock on American politics than it does now.

* The drive to extend Socialism / Fascism to all parts of the country would immediately be boosted.

* Conservative Christianity could come under attack, and the politics of persecution could begin.

* The drive to the planned Absolute Dictatorship could pick up speed, although Republicans right now are doing precious little to prevent this dictatorship.

Doubtless you can think of other cherished goals of the Conservatives which would be badly eroded should President Obama and his propaganda machine were successful in convincing millions of lifetime Republicans that they should never vote Republican again. Can you see how Republican opposition to rolling back this ridiculous Middle Class tax increase can seriously erode our ability to resist Liberalism in these other, even more cherished, issues of our country? No lawmaker ever votes for a Middle Class tax increase at the very time the economy is beginning to recover from a most severe recession.

Republican actions on this 'Fiscal Cliff' tax increase is indefensible.

We need to flood the emails and the phones of Republican Congressmen, telling them to cooperate on this issue with the Democrats to stop the tax increase on the Middle Class. This tax increase is plainly stupid, as we are attempting to bring this country out of recession and to create new jobs that are meaningful and that pay well. America simply does not need the Middle Class reducing its consumer spending because of this tax increase; since consumer spending drives 67% of the entire economy, lawmakers truly are flirting with fire in increasing taxes on the Middle Class.

This tax increase may literally kill the goose which lays the golden egg.

Republicans simply cannot afford to allow President Obama to continue acting like he is the Savior of the Middle Class, walking on water.
