If Satan Preached The Gospel, Could People Still Be Saved?
One can almost hear the gasps from those who have read the subtitle and are thinking to themselves that such an unbelievable situation would be blasphemy! But rest assured that this is a valid question and the possibilities may surprise you.
To find a solid Scriptural basis for our thesis, we need look no further than Isaiah 55:11 where we find the following:
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (KJV)
The Amplified Bible Commentary renders this Scripture thusly:
"So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void--without producing any effect, useless--but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it." (emphasis mine).
From this verse we learn that God's Holy Word will, without fail, accomplish whatever purpose He intends. And the Gospel message--the "good news" of Christ's atoning work on the cross for our sin--is at the same time both simple to comprehend and it is supernatural "dynamite." It is simple in the fact that it is short, to the point, but supernatural in that it gets the job done with a power not human in origin.
For those who have questions about the exact nature of the Gospel, we find it set forth in all of its simplicity in 1 Corinthians 15:1-8:
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: [5] And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: [6] After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. [7] After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. [8] And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time"
The central message (the good news of the Gospel) that Paul is referring to is found in verses 3 and 4--"...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures...." This is the Gospel message in it's entirety, short and sweet! This is the miraculous message that "turned the world upside down" (Acts 17:6) and still calls, saving God's people from their sin today. Its brevity and simplicity is intentional and is designed by God to magnify the miracle of spiritual rebirth (refer to 1 Corinthians, chapter two). Preachers who "flower it up" with excessive oratory are in error. It is so simple that a child can easily repeat it to others--where it will work its miracle of grace, if God so chooses.
The oratory of Jonathan Edwards is a great historic example. The Holy Spirit moved upon Edward's sermon, "Sinners In The Hands of An Angry God", on July 8, 1741, with such holy fervor that a revival was begun which would continue to sweep the American colonies until the mid-1790's.
Edwards belonged to a group of preachers who believed that God's Word was sufficient to save men and did not need any rhetorical flourish. Indeed, Edwards preached this sermon as he always preached his sermons, in an almost monotone delivery; but, the Holy Spirit moved upon that sermon to produce one of the greatest revivals in all of Church history!
It is obvious that if Satan ever speaks these words in the hearing of humans, God can certainly bless the words and use them to call His own sheep. Do we believe this has ever happened? Yes, of course! Without a doubt!!!! Remember that Satan can appear as "an angel of light" and his ministers can act very righteous:
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ....... For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;whose end shall be according to their works" (2 Cor. 11:1, 13-15, emphasis mine).
Did you catch that statement? Satan's ministers can be transformed into the "ministers of righteousness"! Is your pastor such a "minister of righteousness"?
Further, we are told that the False Prophet of Revelation 13:11-18 will appear to be a Christian, and will be accepted by the masses of the people as a Christian leader. Listen to the prophecy:
"Then I saw another beast, rising up out of the land; he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke (roared) like a dragon."
"...he had two horns like a lamb ..." -- Bible scholars uniformly state that this prophecy means that the False Prophet that serves Antichrist so very well, and who exercises the same occult power, will claim to be a Christian, and will be widely accepted as such. False prophets and religious leaders are so very dangerous precisely because they appear to be righteous and genuine; they mix a good amount of truth in with their error. They encourage people to look past the error and concentrate only on the truth they speak, knowing people are not going to remember that just a little bit of poison ruins the whole lump of meal [1 Corinthians 5:6; Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary)
Only God knows for sure how many times the devil himself (or one of his fallen angels) has appeared (and will appear again) behind pulpits around the world! As he has done so we believe he has, with great unwillingness -- great reluctance -- enabled some souls to genuinely come to Jesus Christ as a price he must pay to damn the souls of others!
Think about it--the Gospel message is so simple that neither he nor his apostates can totally avoid it in their quest to deceive and keep quiet those who know what the Word of God says. This is the main reason apostates try their best to lead congregations away from the Bible. If your preacher does not emphasize the Scriptures above all else, he is at best foolish and at worst an inforhell !
As if to underscore this principle, Paul tells us the following::
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8-9).
The word translated "accursed" is the Greek anathema and literally means "to ban", or "excommunicate." In other words, Paul is calling down God's judgment of damnation upon anyone who dares to preach a different Gospel message! This harsh warning is intended to highlight the simple message and make it extremely difficult for anyone to completely avoid it, even if they are consciously trying to steer people in a different direction.
There is abundant anecdotal evidence contained in books and sermons (often first person accounts) to firmly substantiate the claim that numerous unregenerate preachers have themselves been saved after pastoring Churches for years! And in these accounts they often make mention of having led others to Christ before finding Him themselves. Technically speaking, these men were slaves of Satan at the time and under his control while in the unregenerate state (Ephesians 2:2); therefore the fruit borne for Christ came in spite of the best efforts of the devil! Remember that the message, not the messenger is the key.
Now then--back to the premise of our article:
Should preachers "reprove and rebuke" (2 Timothy 4:2) the spirit of evil that inadvertently brings forth fruit? Does the "good" that is produced outweigh the evil inherent in the doing thereof? Do the ends justify the means?
If you are prone to accept this ethical philosophy, you may be surprised to learn that viewpoint is called "casuistry" and was in many respects the Jesuit philosophy behind the Roman Catholic inquisitions that murdered tens of millions of Born Again Christians! And we must respond with the admonition that it is never right to do wrong.
But some people are sure to come back with, "What about the soul(s) that are saved--how can there be anything wrong with that?" The answer is PLENTY! It just depends upon how we look at it.
Would you rather be born into a loving and caring rich family having a godly heritage or into an ungodly poor family with no love or care? I cannot speak for you, but put me down as being solidly for the former! God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform and in His Sovereignty He sometimes allows saints to be born again into extremely poor spiritual surroundings. These converts find themselves as "babes in Christ," in the midst of a mass of humanity who profess Christ--but in reality do not know Him--and because of this their chances of positive spiritual growth are slim to none. As a result, they remain spiritually immature, ineffective witnesses for Christ, and may well being on the "short end of the stick" when rewards are passed out at the Lord's Bema Seat Judgment. Through no actual fault of their own, they were "thrown to the wolves" at their spiritual birth and suffer because of it. Saved? Yes, and that aspect is wonderful, but at what cost to them personally because of the circumstances?
Does not the apostate preacher/congregation bear the awful responsibility for engaging in spiritual fornication--being guilty of complicity in spiritual life coming forth in the midst of wrong and horrible conditions? Absolutely! The Gospel message perhaps was preached by a counterfeit to a group comprised of counterfeits but if one of God's elect sheep heard the right message in the wrong place and responded--a good thing and yet at the same time a sad thing because of the sinful environment in which it transpired.
And sadder still is the attitude which says, "Well he got saved, didn't he?"--as if to insinuate that he may have not been saved at all had it not been for the efforts of the ungodly crowd! Listen to me, my friends--God is going to save each and every one of His elect sheep and not one will be lost (John 6:37, 39: 10:27-29). In John 17:2 the Lord states very clearly that He will give eternal life to as many as the Father has given Him and Ephesians 1:4 in equally clear terms states that God's elect were "chosen in Christ from before the foundation of the world." Romans 8:31-39 tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Our responsibility in evangelism is to reach the elect using God's message and methods. And woe be unto those who presume to preach without benefit of the Holy Spirit and personal salvation in Christ--particularly the apostates who are aware of what they are doing.
Listen to this Biblical truth:
"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you" (John 15:19, KJV).
As a matter of fact, all Christians can expect trouble, if they truly live for Christ--as the following verse tells us:
"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" (2 Tim. 3:12, KJV).
Turn the verse around and it infers this: "If you are not suffering persecution, you are not living godly in Christ Jesus!"
So what are we to make of this? How can Dr. Graham maintain his enormous popularity if he is faithfully proclaiming the Gospel, and speaking out against sin without compromise? The answer should be fairly obvious - he can't. Therefore, the very fact that Graham is so popular with the top Illuminati leaders today should tell you that they recognize him as one of their own!
And those who are protesting the loudest have something in common--a blatant opinion of "so what", when they are confronted by Graham's ecumenical activities. So what if he is playing "footsie" with the Pope and so what if he has been actively engaged for 50 years in bringing about a one-world Church destined to be used by the antichrist? So what if he routinely sends many of those who respond to his crusade invitations back to apostate Churches, where they will learn that Jesus isn't really God and that you can't take the Bible literally --look at all of the souls Graham has led to Christ!
This is pragmatism at its worst--we arrived with "good" results; therefore the trip through the hell of wrong methods somehow becomes justified.
Did you know that this attitude is one of the core concepts of which Communism is comprised? "The ends justify the means", Lenin said. "Good ends justify evil means". "If some good comes out of a man's ministry, what does it matter if some of his methods are ungodly"?
As that icon of the newspaper advice column, Ann Landers, was fond of saying: "Wake up and smell the coffee!"
Even if some souls are saved by Billy Graham's preaching, this wonderful reality neither excuses nor makes right the fact that Graham's activities elsewhere, away from his Crusades, leads many more souls to Hell. If it is true that "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions", it is also true that "the road to Hell is paved with bricks alternating truth and error".
At this End of the Age, you must be extremely aware of this spiritual fact, because God certainly is, and He is certainly paying attention to the methods used to spread His Gospel seed.
Truly, the End of the Age, with all its spiritual deception is upon us, and is reaching full gale-force winds. Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable you to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. Once you have been thoroughly trained, you can also use your knowledge as a means to open the door of discussion with an unsaved person. I have been able to use it many times, and have seen people come to Jesus Christ as a result. These perilous times are also a time when we can reach many souls for Jesus Christ, making an eternal difference.
