NEWS BRIEF:  HARRY POTTER, CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE, Charles Colson, Breakpoint Commentary, #91102, 11/02/1999, http://www.mikids.com/harrypotter/Christian.htm

"If you have a youngster between the ages of seven and 13, chances are a boy named Harry Potter has moved in with you. So have wizards and witches and dragons. Kids can't seem to get enough of the Harry Potter books ... But some Christian parents are wondering if Harry and his friends are suitable playmates for their kids ... The books are enormously inventive, and include the kind of humor that makes many parents want to borrow the books from their kids. But if you're the parent of a Harry Potter fan, you may be concerned about the elements of witchcraft in these books."

This question is excellent , and is one we would expect a Christian author and leader to pose.  Colson then goes on to confirm that Harry Potter books feature witches and wizards, dragons, and other types of witchcraft.  But, then, just when you would think that Colson is going to condemn this practice -- since God condemns it in Scripture and decrees the Death Penalty for such criminals -- he turns 180 degrees to "assure" Christian parents it is just fine to let them read Harry Potter! 

Listen to Colson's words here:  "It may relieve you to know that the magic in these books is purely mechanical, as opposed to occultist. That is, Harry and his friends cast spells, read crystal balls, and turn themselves into animals--but they don't make contact with a supernatural world."

Now, listen carefully, please!  I have been studying the occult -- both White Magic and Black Magick -- for 16 years.  God has given me the opportunity to personally study from former practitioners of both forms of magic -- one former White Magic and three former Black Magick practitioners.  I have also read dozens of books, and have done research into the deepest recesses of the occult; from this experience, I can categorically say that Charles Colson's statement, above, is either the most ignorant or the most worthless in the history of the English Language!

God specifically forbids casting spells and reading crystal balls simply because they do establish contact with the supernatural world!  A witch cannot cast spells without forcing a demon into this existence in order to do their bidding; you cannot divine the future using any method, including Crystallomancy, without conjuring up spirits.  Finally, only the highest level of witchcraft in the world can cause a person to change into an animal and then back again.

Let us examine Colson's sorry statement by discussing all three of the elements of magick Colson mentions:

1.  Casting Spells -- God forbids this practice in Isaiah 8:19, "And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God?"  Witches and wizards that cast spells "peep" and "mutter" their incantations, so we know that God is speaking here of "casting spells", the very practice Colson is saying is just fine!  In fact, in many of the spells, a witch will draw a 9-foot circle on the ground or the floor and then will step inside to draw either a hexagram or a pentagram.  Once the circle is thus prepared, the witch and every member of the coven present will get inside the circle to get ready for the demon to appear to carry out the specific spell.

Doc Marquis, former Black Magick Witch, explains that the major reason for members of the coven to get into the circle is for their personal protection .  Marquis explains that, even as the specified demon is required by Satan's present rules to respond to, and serve, the witch who has properly carried out the ritual, he hates all humans because we are created in the "image of God".  One time, Doc recalls, the demon whom the witch conjured into this dimension during a particular destruction spell was so hideously ugly that one of the coven members gasped, stepped backward, and then allowed one of his feet to step over the line; immediately, the demon shrieked and flew across the circle to physically annihilate that poor coven member.

Even Anton LaVey admits as such in his book, The Satanic Bible .  "If religious faith and fervor can make bleeding wounds appear on the body in approximation to the wounds supposedly inflicted on Christ, it is called stigmata.  These wounds appear as a result of compassion driven to an emotionally violent extreme.  Why, then, should there be any doubt as to the destructive extremes of fear and terror ... demons have the power to destroy in a flesh-rending manner ..." [Page116-117]

Did you notice that LaVey both confirms that demons are the power behind the spell, but he also tells us that the "spontaneous" bleeding of a person which Catholics call "stigmata" is also caused by demons?  Demons are the power behind any spell and in true Witchcraft, demons have to be conjured into this dimension in order for the spell to work.

Therefore, Colson is totally, 100% wrong in saying  a person can "mutter and peep" in saying spells without experiencing contact with any personage in the supernatural world.  When Charles Colson says that no spirit is contacted during a spell, he is lying through his teeth.  Colson is also evidently ignorant of the prohibition of such casting of spells by Almighty God in Isaiah 8:19.  God's pronouncement of doom for this activity is found just a few verses later:

"... they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness ... " [Isaiah 8:22]

2.  Reading Crystal Balls -- Once again, Colson knows not whereof he speaks.  Reading Crystal Balls is an ancient form of Divination [foretelling the future by contacting demonic spirits].  Even my Tormont Webster's Illustrated Dictionary gets this fact right:  Divination -- 'The art or act of foretelling events or revealing occult knowledge from augury or ... supernatural agency."

In this area of Crystal Ball reading, I now know why God so powerfully moved me to buy a book on this subject while perusing Kessinger's Freemasonry and Occult Bookstore online some months ago.  While I was certainly not looking for information on Crystal Ball Gazing at the time, a burning desire to purchase this book took hold of me, and would not let me go until I had bought the book.  Now, I know why God so powerfully moved me; He knew I would need it for this article.

This book is quite ancient, and is one of the formerly very secret occult books published by Freemasonry publishing houses.  The book is called Crystal Gazing:  A Study In The History, Distribution, Theory, and Practice Of Scrying , by Theodore Besterman, reprinted by Kessinger's Freemason and Occult Bookstore.  No date of publication is given, but the very fact that this archaic term, Scrying , is used to describe Crystal Ball Gazing, among other forms of divination, is indicative that the book is over 100 years old.

Listen to the author speak of Crystal Gazing:  "The word crystal-gazing is loosely used to indicate a large class of methods of divination ... Sir Walter Scott says that the old astrologers affirmed that they could bind to their service, and imprison in a ring, a mirror, or a stone, some fairy, sylph, or salamander and compel it to appear when called, and render answers to such questions as the viewer should propose."  [Page 1] 

This description of supernatural demonic beings is quite enlightening when you examine a dictionary for the meanings of these beings which Sir Walter Scott said were conjured up into our physical dimension by Crystal Ball Gazing.

Fairy -- is defined as "tiny supernatural beings in human form".

Sylphs -- is defined as "any of a class of fairylike beings without souls that ... inhabit the air

Salamander -- is defined as "an elemental spirit supposed to live in fire"

Thus, a witch or an astrologer could conjure up into this dimension any of these supernatural spirits by gazing into a crystal ball.  Once again, Colson does not know whereof he speaks.  Or, he does know and he is intentionally lying to Christians.  I will let you be the judge, for ascertaining motives is always the most difficult, but wait until the end of this article before you make up your mind.

Let us continue examining this occult book for evidences that spirits are contacted during Crystal Ball Gazing Sometimes, a black stone or a mirror is substituted for a crystal ball, but the practice is identical:

"Crystallomancy is a method of divination by the crystal which gave its answers whether pyramidal, cylindrical, or of any other manufactured shape of crystal.  Or else it was done by means of pieces or kinds of crystal enclosed in rings, or else enclosed in some vase, and cylindrical or oval in shape, in which the devil makes it seem as though he were in it." [Page 3] Did you catch that last phrase?  the "devil" makes his presence known during Crystal Ball Gazing!

"Lecanomancy [is] a kind of divination performed in a basin with wedges of gold and silver .... The wedges were suspended on the water, and the Daemon formally invoked, who returned the answer in a small hissing voice thro' the fluid." [Page 6; all forms of divination require the conjuring of spirits, Mr. Colson!]

"As for the Anachitis, it is said that spirits may be raised in it by means of Hydromancy ... the ghosts that are raised may be kept above." [Page 6]

"The celebrated SPECULUM of KENNEL COAL, highly polished, in a leathern case .... [used] by Dr. Dee, the conjuror, in the reign of Queen Elizabeth ... into which Dr. Dee used to call his spirits." [Page 21;Emphasis was in the original]

"A chaste and unpolluted boy, or a woman big with child, was appointed to observe with the greatest of care ... at the same time desiring, beseeching, and also commanding an answer, which at length the demon used to return by images in the glasses ... what should come to pass." [Page 41]

CRYSTAL BALL GAZING PRACTICED BY THE SATANIC DRUIDS

This book  shockingly tells us that the Druids used Crystal Ball Gazing as one of their means of Divination! "One writer on the subject had in his possession a round piece of rock crystal almost 3 inches in diameter and 1.1 inches thick in the middle.  On it was an old and partially illegible label, 'Druidical magic Pletnz, mirror of the deviner's cell, belonging to the Arch Druid ..." [Page 44]

That the Druids used Crystal Ball Gazing is devastating to Colson's false assurances to Christian parents that Crystal Ball Gazing is just fine.  The Druids were one of the most evil, most insidious, and most Satanic groups in world history.  They were completely given over to the most black arts of the Black Magick, and practiced human sacrifice continuously.  For this reason, the Illuminati has adopted the style of witchcraft of the Druids.  Therefore, the Witchcraft of Antichrist will be identical to that of the Druids.  It seems to me that Satan would like the children of the world to adopt this type of Black Magick Witchcraft prior to the appearance of Antichrist.  Harry Potter books are drawing the children into this type of Black Magick Witchcraft; Chuck Colson's false assurance is drawing in children from Christian parents!

Now, let us return to this occult author telling us most assuredly that demonic spirits reside in Divination:

"Crystal-gazers, we are told, see and hear demons when looking into the speculum; this is done by means of a clean and clear crystal in which the devil is hidden ... or it may be done with a cut and polished crystal in which the devil hides himself and plays, appearing sometimes as a little figure." [Page 50]

Then, this occult author begins to list some other practices that Divination leads a person into:

Astrology [Page 48] -- God absolutely forbids Astrology in Deuteronomy 18:10, "There shall not be found among you any one ... that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch ..."  Then, in verse 12, God declares such practices an abomination before Him.  An Astrologer is "an observer of times" but Astrology also divines the future.

Automatic Writing [Page 126] -- This practice is insidious, and exceedingly demonic.  Automatic Writing occurs when a demon takes full possession of the body and mind of the medium, and begins to write a message through her, or him.  During this time, the medium has no idea what is being written, even though the writing is usually coming through her hand or typewriter with incredible speed.  She reads the writing only after the demon has released her mind and body from his control, returning her to a normal state.  Most New Age and New World Order writing expounding various parts of the Plan, is Automatic Writing.  Now, we know that divination through Crystal Ball Gazing can lead to Automatic Writing!

Demonic Rapping [Page 129] -- When a medium has conjured up demonic spirits, she often hears some kind of a rapping phenomenon from the demons.  As the author of this occult book states, "The next case which I shall give is a curious one as involving (1) raps, (2) a crystal-vision, (3) an apparition seen by two persons ..." Once again, we see how dangerous Crystal-gazing is, and how wide a direct door it opens into the demonic world.

Demonic Hauntings [Page 130-1] -- The practice of of Crystal-gazing can lead to demonic hauntings, being able to see the spirits which are haunting a particular place.  When a person gives themselves up to the practice of Crystal-gazing, they are opening themselves up to the potential of demonic haunting of their house of dwelling!  How would you like your house haunted simply because your child was reading Harry Potter? Such activity gives demonic spirits the legal right to come into your house. Mr. Colson, are you listening?

Multiple Personalities [Page 131] -- Of all the activities associated with Crystal-gazing, the idea that it can cause Multiple Personalities is one of the most frightening.  However, you need to be aware that a Satanist deliberately undergoes rituals which are specifically designed to create multiple personalities within their mind.  We normal people think that having multiple personalities is a devastating mental illness, which is truly is; however, Satanists look upon multiple personalities as very desirable and seek such a mental condition for themselves and for their children.  Now, we discover that Crystal-gazing can lead to this type of mental disorder!  Mr. Colson, do you still think Christian parents should allow their children to learn about Crystal-ball gazing through Harry Potter?

Telepathy [Page 141] -- Witches energetically seek out the occult ability of telepathy, defined as communicating by means other than normal speech. Now, we discover from this occult author, that such Satanic ability of telepathy is possible for a person participating in Crystal-ball Gazing!

Contact With Spirit Guides -- Guiding Spirits [P. 156-160]  Extensive use of Crystal-ball Gazing can result in contact with Guiding Spirits.  These spirits come into a person's mind and body usually through occult meditation, assuming the role of a Familiar Spirit.  Such a Guiding Spirit gives daily advice on all manner of situations, and almost always gains such control over a person's thinking patterns and behaviors that the person literally cannot function without them.  The Bible calls this type of spirit a possessing spirit; in other words, a person who has a Guiding Spirit is demon-possessed!  A person can become demon-possessed by participating in Crystal-ball Gazing!

Now, can you see how ridiculous -- and how very dangerous -- Mr. Colson's statement is that Christian parents may allow their children to read and learn Witchcraft from Harry Potter, because the kinds of activities Harry does does not result in contact with the supernatural world?  This statement is a lie, a bold-faced and blatant lie.  Mr. Colson is leading many Christian parents and their children badly off course, seeking to take them off the Narrow Path to eternal life, and set them on the Broad Path that leads to Hell.

Let us conclude this segment on the conjuring of spirits during Crystal Ball Gazing by quoting a poem from an occult work entitled, The Curse of Kehama :

"At this the Witch, through shrivell'd lips and thin,
Sent forth a sound half-whistle and half-hiss.
Two winged Hands came in,
Armless and bodyless,
Bearing a globe of liquid crystal, set
In frame as diamond bright, yet black as jet.
A thousand eyes were quench'd in endless night,
To form that magic globe; for Lorrinite
Had, from their sockets, drawn the liquid sight,
And kneaded it, with re-creating skill,
Into this organ of her mighty will,
'Look in yonder orb', she cried,
'Tell me what is there descried'." [P. 36]

This poem illustrates that demonic intervention is absolutely essential in making divination work.  In this case, disembodied hands came into the crystal, "Armless and bodyless", to give the answer in the crystal ball.

This same demonic intervention is what makes the Ouja Board work, and work it does.  As I have read and listened to many a former occultist describe his or her entry into the world of Satan, they testify in most cases of having begun their descent by participating in the Ouja Board .  Even though this "game" is purchased in most toy stores, it is not a game, it is active witchcraft.  Do not be deceived.

3.  Changing Into Animals and Back Into Human -- Mr. Colson is probably like most Americans, in that he does not know such a transformation is possible, but exceedingly rare.  The power behind this phenomena is wholly Satanic and is only possible at the very highest levels of Witchcraft.  From the beginning of our discussion of Harry Potter books, we said that for Harry to have achieved the Sorcerer's Stone , he has to have achieved the highest level of Witchcraft possible.  Therefore, your children are learning the most sophisticated, highest-level Witchcraft in existence!

The way in which a Witch becomes more powerful, and advances through the various degrees, is to invite into herself or himself multiple possessing spirits.  The more powerful the demonic spirits within a witch, and the more varied they are in type and ability, the more versatile, and powerful, that witch will be.  In fact, a witch powerful enough to change herself, or someone else, into an animal, is a witch that has as many demons possessing her -- or him -- as that poor soul in the New Testament known as Legion .

"For he [Jesus] said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, 'What is thy name'? And he answered, saying, 'My name is Legion: for we are many'.  [Luke 5:8-9]

"When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, 'What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not'. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, 'What is thy name'? And he said, 'Legion: because many devils were entered into him.' [Luke 8:28-30]

THIS is the only type of demon possession that makes it possible for a person to change himself or someone else into an animal and back.  Mr. Colson, are you listening?

SUMMARY

Mr. Charles Colson is not only lying to Christian parents and their children, he has positively identified himself as a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing .

When we Christians heard that mean, nasty and despicable Chuck Colson of Watergate fame, had become Born Again, we all felt a thrill knife through our hearts; we glorified God that He could save the hard-hearted former Chief of Staff under President Richard Nixon.

Because of his notoriety, the Christian community immediately anointed Mr. Colson as a key Christian leader, and turned out in large numbers to buy his books.  Christian leaders thus totally ignored Paul's admonition to not quickly make a new convert a leader.  Listen to Paul's words:

"If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless ... Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."  [1 Timothy 3:1, 6]  This is the section in which the Apostle Paul sets forth the qualifications of a man to become a bishop of the Christian Church.  One of the qualifications is that he not be a new Christian, lest his heart be lifted up so much that he will be tempted to fall into the sin of pride, thus falling "into the condemnation of the devil".

Paul did not mean that such a person would lose his salvation; he meant only that he would be so new to the faith that he would succumb to the human tendency to be prideful at his early elevation into a position of leadership.  Once a person has fallen into the sin of Pride, Satan can easily have his way with him.

I fear Charles Colson was so quickly elevated within the American Christian Community that Satan was able to draw him away into great deception through Pride.  Certainly, Mr. Colson has been giving many signs that he might be a tare rather than genuine wheat.  These are some of the areas of concern:

1.  Mr. Colson has accepted the Templeton Award for Progress In Religion in 1993, giving him a cool $1 million.  The Templeton Award is one of the New World Order awards given to people who are contributing especially strongly to the coming global religion.  Even though many Conservative Christian leaders warned Mr. Colson against this award, and of its serious ramifications, he accepted the award.

But, then, he decided to accept this award in person in Chicago at the World Parliament of Religions.  He thus accepted this award with shamans and witches of the world's pagan religions in the audience looking on.  No genuine Christian leader, with the promptings of the Holy Spirit, would ever do such a thing. 

2.  Mr. Colson has been cooperating with the Roman Catholic Pope for years now.  Once again, Colson was warned repeatedly that he was cooperating with the future False Prophet, but he continued. 

Further, Colson has equated the life-changing Biblical Born Again experience with the false Roman Catholic pagan practices of Baptismal Regeneration and Sacramentalism.  Listen to Colson's exact words:  "Those converted -- whether understood as having received the new birth for the first time or as having experienced the reawakening of the new birth originally bestowed in the sacrament of baptism -- must be given full freedom and respect as they discern and decide the community in which they will live their new life in Christ." (1994, The Christian Mission in the Third Millennium)

Billy Graham said much the same thing in the New York Crusades in 1994.  After giving the standard call to accept Jesus Christ down at the altar, Graham than addressed Roman Catholics, saying, "If you are Roman Catholic, I urge you to come down to renew your vows." The vows of which he spoke are the vows said to a person during Confirmation at age 13, and do not, under any circumstances, save a person the way in which a Biblical prayer for forgiveness of sin will do.  Thus, Graham was falsely equating a Biblical prayer for salvation to the false paganism of Roman Catholic Confirmation!

Listen to Charles Colson again:  "The Christian life begins with spiritual restoration, which God works through the preaching of his Word, prayer, the sacraments, worship, and the exercise of spiritual gifts within a local church." (1999, How Now Shall We Live, p 296)  What spiritual nonsense!  Roman Catholic sacraments, their unholy worship that nails Jesus on the cross daily, nor anything else, is acceptable to God.  There is absolutely no Salvation within Roman Catholicism, and here Chuck Colson is advocating just such worship!

Colson continues:

"The most hopeful words from any Christian leader today have come from John Paul II...." (Colson, 1999, How Now Shall We Live, pp 302-303)  How can any "Christian" leader, who is supposedly under the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit, say such a thing about a blatantly false religious leader as Pope John Paul II?  As we reveal in NEWS1052, the New World Order Illuminists have chosen the Pope to be their top religious leader in the coming global United Religions!  This designation places him as the Biblical False Prophet of Revelation 13:11-18.  Discerning Christians the world over know the Papacy is terribly false, and yet this supposed "Christian" leader is heaping this kind of praise upon him!

"The time is ripe for a message that the social peace and personal fulfillment people really crave are available only in Christianity." (Colson,1999, How Now Shall We Live, p 303)  "The pursuit of social peace and personal fulfillment is NOT the biblical motivation for evangelism. Those who attempt to become 'Christians' only to pursue such goals of human fulfillment are embracing another gospel, a gospel centered on self-fulfillment rather than repentance from dead works and faith and trust in the finished work of Christ Jesus alone. A biblical Christ-centered faith results in total abandonment of self to God, rather than the self-centered pursuit Mr. Colson proposes."  [Rebecca Sexton, Former Catholics For Christ; Well said, Becky!]

"We must not allow our witness as Christians to be compromised by ... needlessly divisive disputes." "[We affirm] Catholics who are conscientiously faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church and as disciples together of the Lord Jesus Christ...." (Colson, 1997, The Gift of Salvation - ECT-II)

You cannot get much more blatant than this statement; Colson truly believes, and is promoting, the pagan false beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church.  As such, he has lost the credentials to be considered "Christian". A person Biblically saved is not equivalent to a Roman Catholic adherent who is "conscientiously faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church"!  they are NOT "disciples together of the Lord Jesus Christ"!

We could go on and on, quoting even more Colson statements which reveal the fact that he is not a genuine believer, based upon the terrible fruits of his ministry [Matthew 7:16-20].  However, you get the point that Colson is promoting the false pagan worship within Roman Catholicism; now, can you more easily see how Colson could also promote the false pagan worship of Witchcraft in Harry Potter books?

3.  Mr. Colson has repeatedly cooperated with the World Council and National Council of Churches, speaking at their conferences.  These organizations are terribly effective in leading the religions of the world into joining into a global religion, so that Antichrist can arise.  When you speak at a World Council of Churches conference, you are sharing the podium with avowed shamans and pagans.  Such is the world of Charles Colson.

Please, oh please, ignore Mr. Colson's silly and misleading statement that Christian parents can be "relieved" about the kind of witchcraft practiced by Harry Potter and his friends.  This false statement can only be perceived as coming straight from the Abyss, in order to give parents the excuse they need to allow their children access to these awful books.  I would like to conclude with another verse from Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

"Let no one delude and deceive you with empty excuses and groundless arguments [for these sins], for through these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of rebellion and disobedience." [Ephesians 5:6, Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary].

Hold fast to God's commands of 4,000 years ago concerning witchcraft --  "... thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one ... that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:" [Deuteronomy 18:9-12]

Harry Potter books are teaching your children all these abominable practices!  Your children will be among the masses of people in the world that will be so conditioned to the values, attitudes, and religious practices of Antichrist, that they will follow him, worship him, and ultimately take his Mark.

Jesus said one other thing that speaks directly to Christian parents concerning Harry Potter.  "You cannot drink the Lord's table and the demon's table. Shall we thus provoke the Lord to jealousy and anger and indignation?" [1 Corinthians 10:21-22]  The high-level Witchcraft in Harry Potter books teaches children that kind of Witchcraft; Christian parents cannot allow their children to read Harry Potter, or risk the Lord's indignation.  You cannot drink from the Lord's table on Sunday and allow your children to drink from Harry Potter the rest of the week!  The very idea that some parents think Harry Potter is all right, and that a prominent person perceived to be Christian -- Chuck Colson -- falsely assures parents, IS the unparalleled deception spoken of as a sign of the End of the Age.

Do not be deceived.  Heed the Lord's Words of warning against unparalleled deception at the End of the Age [Matthew 24:4, 11, 24]. 

Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable you to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. Once you have been thoroughly trained, you can also use your knowledge as a means to open the door of discussion with an unsaved person. I have been able to use it many times, and have seen people come to Jesus Christ as a result. These perilous times are also a time when we can reach many souls for Jesus Christ, making an eternal difference.
