NEWS BRIEF: "US-UK Special Forces Begin South Iraqi Oil Fields Takeover", by DEBKAfile, 20 February 2003.
"American and British special forces are reliably reported by DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s exclusive military and intelligence sources to have begun taking over Iraqi oil fields close to the Kuwait border and around the port town of Basra, in audacious commando operations. These fields account for three-quarters of Iraq’s oil output. The fields occupied are North Rumeila, which abuts on the border with Kuwait, as well as West Qurna and parts of Majnoon, near Basra. Allied troops are now attacking the oil refineries of Basra and Al Nasiriyah, before moving on to Al-Samawah and smaller oil fields near the Iranian border."
When you closely examine this map, you can easily see how convenient these locations are to either our forces in Kuwait or on board ship in the gulf. Forces aboard expeditionary ships in the Persian Gulf could easily be flown by helicopter to Al Basra and Al Nasiriyah. Furthermore, once our troops have taken these oil facilities, they have seized control of a section of an expressway that leads right to Baghdad! If Saddam is either serious about defending his heartland, or capable of doing so, you can bet he has prepared his defenses to interdict any armor coming down this expressway!
Later in the article, we do read that these special forces units jumped off from both land and sea. Listen:
"According to DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military sources, a part of the force went in overland from northern Kuwait while a second contingent was parachuted from US transport planes, with US Marines Apache helicopters taking part in the action."
Certainly, this area is so close to the bulk of our forces, and so close to our naval units, Saddam and his generals might have decided to evacuate this area in order to preserve their forces for a fight at a location more to their advantage.
Now, let us go back to our feature article, and we will see that this consideration is probably correct.
"First reports from the region indicate that the takeover met hardly any resistance, which accounts for the slight damage to the oil fields and their installations."
At first blush, this report of light, to no resistance, might seem to indicate that Saddam was going to be even more toothless than he was in Gulf War I, 1991; however, this light resistance may also mean simply that Saddam has decided to pull his forces back into the interior of the country to make his stand elsewhere. The real fighting may be just ahead, at a time and place Saddam has chosen.
DEBKAfile was more explicit:
"Bush Administration officials decided to keep the operation under the veil of secrecy for a number of reasons:
1. Saddam Hussein had to be prevented from taking military action to foil the seizure of the oil fields.
2. Iraqi and al Qaeda terrorist cells planted around Persian Gulf shores with orders to strike when the Americans invaded Iraq must not be alerted. The objective here was to keep them from finding out they had missed the train until their main incentive – the onset of the American invasion - had slipped out of their grasp.
3. America would have already seized Iraq’s most prized strategic asset before tabling a second resolution at the UN Security Council and before the UN arms inspectors made their third report on February 28. Washington would thus have stolen the thunder of its opponents in the Security Council and rendered its proceedings irrelevant.
4. A fait accompli on this scale could persuade the Turks to come aboard the
American war wagon after all and overcome Kurdish resistance to the entry of
Turkish forces into northern Iraq. As a result, the northern front which was
close to collapse earlier this week may be reconstituted at the eleventh hour."

Thus, we may have just begun our long-awaited attack on Iraq. Even as we are arguing with various members of the United Nations' Security Council, or debating the "Old European" nations as to the wisdom of launching an attack, we have preempted all parties by launching the attack in this low-level manner.
With two-thirds of Iraqi oil fields now under our control, the world's oil markets must take solace in the reality that, maybe, this assault on Iraq will be just as sweatless as it was in 1991. With America seizing Iraq's oil fields, we instantly become King Kong in the Middle East and in the oil markets. Whether we retain that position is a decision residing totally within the political leadership of the American president.
Arab countries still debating on whether to support the American initiative or whether to side with Iraq must be holding their mouths right now, for all this squabble has just been rendered meaningless. Now, the real American assault seems to be inevitable, awaiting only the most propitious moment.
TURKEY AND IRAN -- SET UP FOR A FIGHT?
An interesting development has just occurred that bears watching. While Turkey has seemingly been dawdling on whether to pour 80,000 troops across the northern border of Iraq and seizing the oil fields in that area, Iran has suddenly inserted 5,000 troops loyal to her interests in northern Iraq, supported by "heavy equipment", a term usually reserved for tanks. Let us review this developing story.
NEWS BRIEF: "Iranian-backed forces cross into Iraq", By Najmeh Bozorgmehr in Tehran and Guy Dinmore in Washington, FT.com, February 18, 2003.
"Iranian-backed Iraqi opposition forces have crossed into northern Iraq from Iran with the aim of securing the frontier in the event of war, according to senior Iranian officials. The forces, numbering up to 5,000 troops, with some heavy equipment, are nominally under the command of Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, a prominent Iraqi Shia Muslim opposition leader who has been based in Iran since 1980 and lives in Tehran."
This article was very vague about where in northern Iraq these Iranian-backed forces entered, but it is possible these forces might have entered at the Arbil, Mosul area; a check at the map shows that this entry point would have been well supported by a road leading from Iran into Iraq across the mountainous region there. If this is the case, then it is possible that Iran has taken the preemptive step of planting a "trip wire" force between the expected Turkish forces soon to be coming over the northern border and Baghdad. Turkey might suddenly find herself facing a war with Iraq if she proceeds to carry out the US plan to rush toward Baghdad from the northern border.
Now, 5,000 Iraqi opposition troops backed by Iran are no match for 80,000 Turkish soldiers; however, this next news story might shed some light on what might be about ready to occur.
NEWS BRIEF: "Iran's Nukes -- North Korean Connection", by DEBKAfile, 20 February.
"Back in October and November 2002, DEBKA-Net-Weekly ... exposed the lively Iranian-North Korean nuclear relationship that gave both members of the 'axis of evil' atomic bomb-building capability ... It is still not clear whether North Korea owns all the bombs in its possession. Some intelligence quarters hold that some of the devices are Iranian."
This revelation that Iran might possess nuclear bombs may turn out to be most important prophetically, now that she is facing a potential invasion of Iraq by 80,000 Turkish soldiers. If Iran has even a couple of atomic devices, we might see a situation develop that just might fulfill important Bible prophecy.
TURKEY'S PRO-WEST GOVERNMENT, ARMY MUST BE OVERTHROWN
On the authority of God's Word, Turkey must turn from her pro-West, pro-Israel military posture to a radical Muslim viewpoint. Why do we say this so dogmatically? In Ezekiel 38, we see that "Togarmah" is one of the nations listed as marching with the Russian-led invasion force against Israel in the "Latter Days". Togarmah is Turkey. Until the elections last Fall, both the civilian government and the military were secular, very pro-Western, pro-European Union, and pro-Israel. The Turkish military has long enjoyed a close relationship with Israel. Turkey and Israel have concluded many military agreements over the past years.
This stable pro-Western government began to tilt strongly to the militant Muslim side during the Fall elections, when a very radical prime minister overwhelmingly won election. Let us pick up the story.
"ANKARA -- Turkey's voters gave a resounding victory to the Islamic-leaning Justice and Development Party (AKP) of former Istanbul mayor Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sunday, in a move certain to cause jitters in the West and Israel over this strategic country's future direction. One western diplomat in Ankara termed the results nothing less than "a political earthquake."
Thus, the civilian government has just turned from pro-West to radical Islam. Immediately, the new prime minister began to move the civilian government into a more radical Islamic orbit, being ever mindful not to provoke the ire of the secular, pro-West military. On several occasions in the recent past, the Turkish military has moved against a civilian government considered to be too extremist, and has removed the offending prime minister. However, this prime minister may prove to be more difficult to remove, since he was elected with such an overwhelming majority that the military must fear an equally overwhelming backlash from an angry populace should they try to remove him.
But, prophecy is clear: Turkey will march with the Russians, which means that its leadership must be overthrown, replaced by militant Muslim officers. U.S. strategy to attack Iraq is built solidly on active Turkish participation, both in terms of manpower on the ground and in terms of using their airfields. A loss of these airfield might cause us to rethink our plans to attack Iraq. Already, loss of the use of Arab airfields is apparently forcing U.S. leaders to depend upon our carrier fleet to provide the necessary airpower to attack Iraq. However, as the first DEBKAfile article, quoted above, states, the "dispute" between the Turkish military and the U.S. military might be more rhetoric designed for public consumption rather than substance. As of the moment of writing this article -- 2/21/2003 -- Turkish officials were stating that they had reached agreement with the U.S. on deploying use of Turkish bases by American troops.
While the arguments are flying back and forth about whether Turkey would allow U.S. troops to be stationed from its bases on their soil, those 80,000 Turkish troops that are supposed to invade Iraq from the North are standing in place. Since Iran is firmly convinced that she is next on Bush's terrorist hit list after we have finished with Saddam (NEWS1761), she has to view with extreme wariness any Turkish incursion into Iraq from the north.
This fact brings us back to the 5,000 Iranian-backed troops coming into Iraq in the northern regions. What if Iran were to position these forces as a trip wire to put the Turkish military on notice that engaging these troops would be tantamount to declaring war on Iran herself? Before you scoff at the specter of 5,000 Iranian-backed Kurdish troops facing down 80,000 Turkish troops, we need to remind ourselves of that major factor, covered in the DEBKAfile article quoted above.
Iran is said to have North Korean nuclear bombs!
As we covered in NEWS1765, the Bible foretells the use of weapons that modern Bible scholars believe to be nuclear weapons.
"I will show signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The Sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord." [Joel 2:30-32]
IF -- and this is a big 'IF' -- Iran were to attack these 80,000 invading Turkish troops, using nuclear devices, the resulting destruction and loss of life among the Turks might be so very large as to provoke the population of Turkey to explode in anti-military fervor. Over 80% of the population support Iraq in this war and hate America greatly. Turkish military officers thus are literally taking a huge risk supporting the United States' war effort against Iraq to the degree they are. If their participation turns ugly -- or downright disastrous -- we could very well see a political explosion the likes of which few can comprehend, the kind of explosion that could overthrow the pro-West, pro-Israel Turkish control of the military. The replacement officers would be fanatical Muslim, leaving Turkey in perfect position so that, later in the period, her troops could march with the Russian confederation as it moves to attack Israel in fulfillment of Ezekiel 38-39.
We must watch this development closely as events unfold in this Iraq war.
CONCLUSION
We must strongly state, once again, that we are not automatically assuming that this war is the World War III that will produce Antichrist. Events surely seem to be lining up that way, but we must be reticent and watch events unfold, rather than simply making huge assumptions at this point. We must be modern-day Bereans -- compare what we see developing to Scripture. You need to read the news AND have your Bible at the ready.
We are well aware of the Illuminati "Plan A" and their "Plan B". Former Black Magick Illuminists are unanimous in saying that the Illuminati "Plan A" is for the war to happen right now, with Prince Charles being the Antichrist that will step forward; however, the Illuminati has a "Plan B", which is for Prince William to be the Antichrist in approximately 2012, the end of the Mayan calendar, and the 30th birthday of the prince. Jewish tradition stipulates that a man cannot be a rabbi until he is 30 years of age. If this period is not God's timing, this war will blow over rather rapidly and be known as simply another "wars and rumors of wars" scenario. But, if this is God's time, this war will explode into the planned Third World War, beginning with Iraq and Israel in the Middle East, followed by North Korea attacking South Korea, followed by China attacking Taiwan. After initial success, our military will begin to take such serious casualties that we are reduced to something far less than the world's only superpower. At least this is the plan once the true World War III really gets under way.
Oh yes, terrorism will erupt in our cities for real, giving the Illuminati the excuse to dissolve our government, take away our rights and liberties, declare Martial Law, and prepare this country to accept the dictatorship Antichrist will offer. At this point, people will wish they had taken our warnings about the Patriot Act and Homeland Security a little more seriously; however, most will be too scared to even think of such matters, to even contemplate what might have been if more people had awakened to the reality of what is happening to this once-great nation.
We must watch, pray, and work to save souls,
for the day seems to be coming when "no man can work".
