Chinese military jets are conducting aerial intercepts of U.S. reconnaissance jets on almost a daily basis, U.S. officials said.

The intercepts have been carried out against the flights of EP-3 and RC-135 jets conducting electronic and photographic intelligence flights.

The surveillance jets operate in international air space some 50 to 100 miles from the Chinese east coast.
