NEWS BRIEF: "Attorney General Warns Boston of Possible Attack", Reuters, Excite News, 21 September, 2001.
"BOSTON (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft warned Boston's mayor and the Massachusetts governor of possible threats of an attack on the city or surrounding communities, officials told Reuters on Friday. 'He made me aware of some issues, and we need to be prepared,' Boston Mayor Thomas Menino told the Boston Herald. The mayor's press office told Reuters they would have a more formal statement later on Friday."
"Acting Gov. Jane Swift also spoke with Ashcroft. 'But it would be a mischaracterization to say the state is on an even higher alert. We've been on high alert since Sept. 11,' said her spokeswoman, Sarah Magazine. Office buildings have laid on extra security and U.S. Marshals armed with automatic weapons have been patrolling federal buildings in the city. The federal government banned aircraft from flying closer than three miles from professional or college sporting events or any other major outdoor gathering, according to The Boston Globe."
The average American would see and hear of these newest precautions and breathe a sigh of relief. Surely, with all these extra armed precautions, no terrorist wielding any kind of weapon, could do any damage. Certainly, when we think of normal Middle East suicide bombers, with bombs hidden inside backpacks, or explosives loaded on to a truck or in a car, these extra precautions might prevent that type of attack.
We also find it reassuring that the Federal Government has "banned aircraft from flying closer than three miles from professional or college sporting events, or any other major outdoor gathering". One can only envision with great horror the damage a terrorist could do if he were able to fly a small aircraft over a stadium loaded with large amounts of incendiary explosives, or a chemical or biological agent.
However, I must ask a question about this Federal "prohibition" against aircraft. What kind of enforcement power has been set in place to prevent an aircraft who has suddenly veered off course from flying over a stadium? When airplanes take off from Boston's Logan Airport, they are within a few miles of Fenway Park, where the Boston Red Sox will be playing tomorrow [Saturday, 9/22]. If a highjacker were to gain immediate control of an airliner again, what weapon do the authorities have in place to shoot this airliner down before it can fly over the stadium? Do they have anti-aircraft missiles in place, ready to shoot at a moment's notice? Do they plan to have aircraft in the air to shoot down any suddenly errant airliner?
Answers to these questions may hold the key to the lives of 33,000 fans tomorrow in Fenway and many other sports fans throughout the Eastern and Central Time Zones tomorrow or Sunday. Small planes are also a concern, as many of the suspected Arab terrorists hold certified pilot's licenses.
WHAT IF THE TERRORISTS USE A COMPLETE DIFFERENT TYPE OF WEAPON?
What if these Arab terrorists use a weapon not contemplated before, at least in print? In NEWS1216, "Clinton Changed Nuclear Response Strategy", I quoted from a book entitled "Through The Eyes of the Enemy", written by Stanislav Lunev, a former Soviet GRU Intelligence agent who defected. In this book, he describes the capabilities of the Russian GRU service regarding nuclear weapons.
He stated that the Russians might have already deployed nuclear bombs called "RA-115 and RA-115-01" Suitcase Bombs [Page 25], around selected American cities. These bombs were made to look like a rock, or a log, or a small tree. Their actual size is so small they are called "suitcase bombs".
However, Lunev stated that the name, "suitcase bomb" was misleading because the weapon actually could fit into a briefcase. While it weighed between 50-60 pounds, it could be carried by an adult male in such a way as to not create attention or suspicion. The terrorist would look like any businessman walking down the street!
Such a bomb would likely devastate pretty much everything within a five-mile radius. This means a terrorist only has to drive along I-90 Mass Pike that comes within a mile of Fenway Park and set this bomb off while he is travelling down the road! Or, he need only go to somewhere in downtown Boston and set this device off. He need not get any where near Fenway Park to kill 33,000 fans in the Park and most people in downtown Boston.
Who is going to even think twice about someone in downtown Boston carrying a briefcase? No one.
Then, Lunev stated that the GRU had developed a hand-held nuclear weapon [Ibid.]. This weapon would be the perfect terror weapon, as it would allow the suicide bomber to get within a few blocks of the stadium with the nuclear gun, step out of a car, aim and fire.
If the Russians have developed this type of weaponry, it is not out of the question for Osama bin Laden to have it also. The Russians have been supporting Arab terrorist groups for a good many decades now, with Washington pretending not to notice.
We can only hope and pray this scenario does not unfold tomorrow in various localities within the Eastern or Central Time Zones with sports stadiums the target. Given the possibility of this type of nuclear device it seems to me that no "heightened" security measures advanced thus far will prevent tragedy.
Intelligence services have been saying for some time now that the Arabs planned a second wave of attacks on September 22, which would be precisely 11 days after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks. Additionally, the date, 22, is an '11 x 2'; additionally, when you add the ninth month '9' to the date of the month, '2 + 2', you get 13.
The first tower in New York City was attacked by a plane designated #11, while the second tower was hit by a plane whose designation was '175', which added up to 13.
We can only hope and pray this grouping of '11' and '13' will not be used in a second wave of terror tomorrow. Officials from President Bush to state and city officials, have reiterated that they have the situation under control and we Americans should "hug our kids", "visit the city", attend ball games, and generally get back to normal life. We can only hope they are right.
Truly, we live at the End of the Age. Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable you to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. Once you have been thoroughly trained, you can also use your knowledge as a means to open the door of discussion with an unsaved person. I have been able to use it many times, and have seen people come to Jesus Christ as a result. These perilous times are also a time when we can reach many souls for Jesus Christ, making an eternal difference.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to immediately ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will instantly forgive you, and fill your heart with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Then, you need to begin a daily walk of prayer and personal Bible Study.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, but have come to realize His reality and the approaching End of the Age, and want to accept His FREE Gift of Eternal Life, you can also do so now, in the privacy of your home. Once you accept Him as Savior, you are spiritually Born Again, and are as assured of Heaven as if you were already there. Then, you can rest assured that the Kingdom of Antichrist will not touch you spiritually.
